Woman wants to break off her engagement because her fiancé did not vote in the US elections: “I’m terrified” | Trend

America is eagerly waiting to find out who will be the next US president, the Democratic presidential candidate. Kamala Harris or republican presidential candidate donald trump. Voting to elect the 47th president of the United States concluded on November 5 and everyone is waiting for the results to start coming in. As expected, social media is full of posts about the event, and one of them took people by surprise. In a Reddit post, a 26-year-old woman claimed she wanted to break off her engagement to her fiancé because he skipped the vote.

What did the woman say?

“My fiancé (26f) (26m) does not plan to vote in the US presidential election. I’m having a moral crisis. Is ending our engagement dramatic? he asked on Reddit. In the following lines he explained the situation.

She explained that they live in Florida and that her future husband refused to vote, claiming that he didn’t like any of the candidates. “And our political views are quite similar. “So I don’t understand why you are so indifferent to skipping this vote,” he added.

How did social networks react?

The post left Reddit divided. While some supported the woman’s decision, others expressed that voting is a personal choice and should not affect their relationship.

“You don’t control their actions, behaviors or choices, only your own. If it is so important to you to be with someone who votes and he doesn’t want to vote, then you should break up with him. (If he voted and voted against you, would you be okay since you at least voted?) You can end a relationship for any reason you want,” one Reddit user posted.

“For me it would be a decisive factor,” said another. A third asked: “But if he votes and doesn’t vote for your preferred candidate, would you be equally upset and still not marry him?”

A fourth wrote: “This is a terrible idea. If you don’t share core values, then break up. You can explain why it is important to you, but you can’t change it.”

In this presidential race, Kamala Harris advocated for unity and hope, adding that the country will have a “new beginning” under her leadership. Donald Trump, on the other hand, promised economic recovery and warned against a Democratic-led future.
