Attacks on NNPCL distraction from reforms, threat to Tinubu’s economic goals – Arewa Youths

The Arewa Youth Assembly has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene and end what they describe as a “campaign of attacks” against Mele Kolo Kyari, the CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL.

The youth group alleged that these attacks are being orchestrated by insiders within the corporation, specifically senior management personnel with the aim of discrediting Kyari’s leadership and reforms.

In a press release signed by President Mohammed Salihu Danlami, the Arewa Youth Assembly warned that the attacks are not only distracting Kyari from his reform efforts but are also jeopardizing President Tinubu’s broader economic goals.

He alleged: “These attacks are sponsored, perfectly planned and orchestrated by insiders, some senior administrative staff who are desperate to take over the GCEO position.

Danlami also claimed that the internal opposition is a reaction to Kyari’s crackdown on corruption and inefficiency within the corporation.

“They are negatively impacting the GCEO, distracting it from the ongoing reforms and due to the importance and centrality of the NNPCL to the economy of this country, these attacks are also detrimental to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms and restructuring. regarding the agenda of the Promise of a Renewed Hope,” Danlami warned.

The Arewa Youth Assembly called on President Tinubu to address the issue quickly, suggesting that an intervention could help stabilize the leadership of the corporation and ensure the continuation of essential reforms in Nigeria’s oil sector.

“The President’s support in ending these insider attacks will strengthen ongoing restructuring efforts and help achieve the administration’s goals for a reformed, transparent and self-sufficient oil sector,” Danlami concluded.
