High Desert voters have a lot to consider when casting their ballot this Election Day.

In addition to the presidential election, voters will have to decide who will represent them at the local level.

Here’s a look at how the candidates are positioned heading into Election Day.

Adelanto City Council

Adelanto voters have a somewhat simple decision to make this November, when it comes to local elections.

There are two city council seats up for grabs and only four candidates bidding for them, two of whom are incumbent candidates.

Mayor Pro Tem Daniel Ramos and Councilwoman Joy Jeannette are running for reelection on Election Day. The terms of Mayor Gabriel Reyes, Councilman Angelo Meza and Councilwoman Amanda Uptergrove will continue until November 2026.

Apple Valley City Hall

Apple Valley residents will have a less difficult decision to make when voting for city council, as two of the three district seats up for grabs are unopposed.

District 2 incumbent Art Bishop faces La Kerie Williams.

Barstow City Hall

Barstow residents will face the important decision of electing a mayor after a disastrous turn of events for former Mayor Paul Courtney in 2022.

Courtney was banned from city hall in 2022 after an investigation into allegations of intimidation and influence of city employees. Four candidates want the seat, including current Barstow Councilwoman Carmen Hernandez.

There are also two other district seats available, Districts 3 and 4.

Hesperia City Hall

Only one current council member, Mayor Pro Tem Rebekah Swanson, is seeking re-election in Hesperia’s 2024 general election, although two district seats are up for grabs.

Current Mayor and District 5 Representative Larry Bird is not seeking re-election, prompting four first-time candidates to run for a seat in the district.

The two municipal positions that are up for election are:

• Council District 1

• Council District 5

Victorville City Hall

More than half of the candidates running for Victorville City Council have never held elected office.

Three of the five district seats are up for grabs on the Victorville City Council this election season, and three incumbent candidates hope to save their spots on the council.

• Council District 1

• Council District 3

• Council District 5
