    Mossad agents to join Maccabi Tel Aviv FC’s trip to Amsterdam – Israel Sports

    After a disappointing 1-0 league defeat against Ironi Kiryat Shmona, Maccabi Tel Aviv are refocusing on European competition, taking on Ajax in Amsterdam on Thursday night. The yellow and blue will try to get their first points in the UEFA Europa League group stage.

    As with all Israeli teams playing in Europe over the past year, security concerns are paramount. On Tuesday, the Dutch newspaper Telegraaf reported that, in addition to Maccabi’s usual security personnel, Mossad agents will join the team in Amsterdam to provide maximum protection.

    On Mondays, SpainAS newspaper reported that a pro-Palestinian group is planning a large protest in front of the stadium against the Israeli team and its fans, with some 2,600 Israeli supporters expected to attend.

    Request the cancellation of the match

    Posters have appeared throughout Amsterdam calling for the cancellation of the match and demanding Israel’s elimination from UEFA. In particular, Ajax, often recognized as a club with Jewish ties, is widely considered pro-Israel.

    Last Saturday, a pro-Palestinian protester was allegedly attacked by Ajax fans before their recent match.

    In the first year of a renewed format, the yellow and blue are currently 34th out of 36 teams in the Europa League, with three defeats in three games.
