The cryptic three-word rumor about Diana Taurasi’s retirement debunked by ESPN

On Monday, the women’s basketball community thought it had no idea whether Diana Taurasi I would play another season in the WNBA.

What is certain is that whenever she decides to quit, Taurasi will be remembered as one of the best to ever play the sport. regardless of gender. After all, it’s hard to deny the accolades of someone who won three WNBA titles, two WNBA Finals MVP trophies, played in 11 All-Star Games and won a record six Olympic gold medals.

So the only debate about Taurasi right now is whether he will ever appear on the basketball court again. And fans seemed convinced that this question was answered when Taurasi made a post on Instagram on Monday that featured several ads featuring his face that included the “last ” emojis, which presumably meant “one last dance.”

Taurasi’s caption on the post was: “Keep them guessing.”

While this announcement (which is for Instagram’s ‘Notes’ feature) raised hopes from countless fans that Taurasi had decided to return for one more season, ESPN writer Michael Voepel set the record straight when published in X“The Instagram announcement with Diana Taurasi was made before the WNBA season ended and appeared elsewhere before today. It is not intended to be a ‘message’ about her future plans or anything else, her agent told ESPN” .

Well, up to here. While this is a pretty misleading ad, maybe Instagram deserves some respect for finding a way to grab our attention.

Perhaps the fans now discussing her alleged return will be enough to convince Taurasi to do one last dance. But next time we’ll have to hear it directly from her.
