HYDERABAD: A woman from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, who went to Bahrain to work as a domestic help alleged that she was being physically tortured.
The woman, identified as Paka Sirisha shared several videos with her sister, Majji Devi, detailing her distressing situation.
On November 3, Majji Devi wrote to the Indian Embassy in Bahrain seeking help for her sister. He also contacted Pravasi Legal Cell, Bahrain chapter, seeking help in rescuing Sirisha.
Majji Devi stated that Sirisha went to Bahrain on March 5, 2024. “She is being tortured at her workplace,” she said, pleading for Sirisha to be rescued.
In videos sent to her sister, Sirisha claimed she was starved, sleep-deprived and overworked. He described cases of physical abuse and expressed that the situation had become unbearable.
With tears in her eyes, Sirisha recounted the torture she faced and mentioned that she was threatened with dire consequences if she complained about her situation.
