BARNES COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured after a crash in Barnes County Monday morning.

It happened around 8 a.m. along State Highway 1 and Barnes County Road 22, about a mile east of Sanborn.

A truck driver was transporting soybeans on Highway 1 when a Dodge Avenger attempted to cross. Authorities say the truck crashed into the Dodge on the passenger side.

The Dodge’s passenger, a 46-year-old Valley City woman, died. The driver, a 15-year-old girl, was taken to a Fargo hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 59-year-old Sanborn man, was taken to a Valley City hospital with serious injuries.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
