Cristiano Ronaldo’s former teammate tells Manchester United fans what to expect from Rubén Amorim

Manchester United have hired Ruben Amorim as a replacement for Erik ten Hag, after having done wonders at the helm of Sporting.

Manchester United sacked Erik ten Hag last week and have wasted no time in choosing his successor.

United have announced the appointment of Rubén Amorimgetting the Sporting coach an agreement that could last until 2028.

Amorim is yet to arrive, as the deal had been agreed on the condition that he could manage Sporting until the international break.

That left Amorim with three games to manage before joining United, starting with Friday’s rout of Estrela Amadora.

Amorim faced United hero Nani in that game as you prepare to start working on Old Trafford at the end of this month.

José Fonte shares his vision of Rubén Amorim

Amorim’s first game in charge will be against Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town on November 24, with two more Sporting games to come.

Sporting will host Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night before traveling to face Braga in Amorim’s final match.

Excitement is building around Amorim and his move to United, and José Fonte is now adding to the excitement.

Former Southampton defender Fonte told BBC Radio Five Live that he believes Amorim’s departure from Sporting was only a matter of time.

Fonte, winner of the Euro 2016 together with christian ronaldo with Portugal – noted that former Sporting defender Luis Neto told him all about Amorim’s brilliance, but also about his tendency to go into too much detail.

Fonte added that Sporting’s football under Amorim is simply “incredible” and heard from his brother Rui, who played with Amorim in Braga, that United’s new manager is “obsessed” with football.

Now at Casa Pia, one of Amorim’s former clubs, Fonte feels Amorim is “something special” and can’t wait to see him on the United bench.

“It was only a matter of time before he moved to a bigger club,” Fonte said.

“What I like about him is that he has his philosophy, he has his own ideas. I was talking to one of his former players, Luis Neto, and he told me that he is one of those coaches who has this attention to detail, you know, and sometimes it can even be too much, he told me. me.

“But that’s what makes the difference in my opinion. I think he has the ability to have great success at Man United, I know him personally. I have played against Sporting a couple of times and I know how difficult it is to play against this team.

“The way Sporting is playing at the moment, for example, is incredible. They have threats behind them, they have threats between the lines, they build, they press, they know exactly what to do in every situation in the game, so I’m looking forward to seeing him at work.

“My brother was managed by him, I spoke to my brother many times about Ruben, even before he was linked with Man United and what he told me is that he is obsessed. He is obsessed with football, with training, with training and this is something very important if you want to be one of the best and he is a very young coach, but in every job he has had, he has been very successful and that gives you says something “It has something special,” he added.

Amorim arrives in incredible shape

United fans are looking for a saviour, someone who can really take the club forward after more than a decade of ups and downs since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Amorim could be that man, but he certainly needs time given that he is only 39 years old.

Amorim has won two league titles at Sporting and has certainly earned his big step onto the United bench.

Sporting have been in sensational form under Amorim this season, winning all 10 of their league games this season.

35 goals scored and only three conceded is a remarkable record and Sporting certainly look to be aiming for the title once again.

United now hope Amorim can carry his Sporting form to Old Trafford, solving the problems at both ends of the pitch in the process.
