RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – An October crash on Eastlake Blvd killed a Minden man.

Around 11:30 a.m. on October 24, Nevada State Police troopers responded to IR580 and Eastlake for reports of an accident.

An initial investigation found that a 2007 GMC Yukon was driving south on IR580 when, for unknown reasons, the driver left the travel lane and entered the paved right shoulder. The right side of the GMC struck the right-side concrete barrier several times as it continued south.

Ultimately, the GMC came to rest in contact with the right shoulder concrete barrier about 4,500 feet south of where it initially struck the barrier.

The driver, Patrick Peterson, 66, of Minden, was pronounced dead.
