during a call with NBC News Over the weekend, former President Donald Trump revealed that notorious conspiracy nut and anti-vaccine Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would play “an important role in the administration” if elected on Tuesday.

Trump also did not rule out banning vaccines, something Kennedy Jr. had already done. previously promised to do – a deranged and incredibly dangerous plan that flies in the face of common sense and scientific evidence.

Even stranger is that the move would come despite the Trump administration’s early efforts to accelerate the rollout of a COVID-19 vaccine, which it finally paid off in one of the emblematic achievements of the administration.

“Well, I’m going to talk to (Kennedy) and other people, and I’ll make a decision, but he’s a very talented guy and he has strong opinions,” Trump said of the man who disconcertingly confessed to throwing a dead bear in Central Park earlier this year.

Make no mistake, Kennedy Jr. is as far from a “talented guy” as you can get. The former presidential candidate, who withdrew to publicly endorse Trump, has repeatedly made it easy debunked claims like the conspiracy theory vaccines cause autism.

His opposition to vaccines made him a prominent voice during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite being woefully misinformed on the issue and repeatedly leaning into crackpot conspiracy theories.

“There is no vaccine that is safe and effective,” Kennedy Jr. said. he told lex fridman during a 2023 podcast episode.

Kennedy Jr. has even gone so far as to claim that COVID-19 was “ethnic target” to spare Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people, an incorrect and racist comment that should completely discredit anything you have to say on the subject.

He has also requested a banning fluoride in water supplysaying it causes cancer. This despite having no scientific evidence linking the two. In fact, fluoride in both drinking water and toothpaste has been shown to prevent cavities and strengthen teeth.

Naturally, that kind of crazy pseudoscience is a trap for a former president who He once suggested that we should inject ourselves with bleach. to fight COVID.

“Well, I haven’t talked to him about it yet, but it’s fine with me,” Trump said. NBCin reference to Kennedy’s promise to ban fluoride. “You know, it’s possible.”

Kennedy Jr. revealed last week that Trump promised him “control” of the US Department of Health and Human Services and the US Department of Agriculture, foreshadowing a terrifying future for healthcare in the country if Trump is elected.

Trump, however, has been vague about Kennedy Jr.’s future role, although he promised that he “will do it.”go crazy on medicine“.

In short, Trump’s comments may be pure complacency in the days leading up to the presidential election. As his confusing language suggests, the former president most likely has absolutely no plans when it comes to vaccine policy.

But even being willing to keep the idea of banning vaccines on the table, despite a mountain of evidence that doing so would be incredibly dangerous, should have everyone terrified of a future with Trump back in the White House.
