Lyft Offers Free, Discounted Rides to the Polls on Election Day

Lyft is helping voters get to the polls this Election Day.

As part of its Lyft Up Voting Access 2024 program, the ride-sharing company said it will offer free and discounted rides for voters who want to cast their ballot.

Lyft has also been helping to provide voting access information, informing voters about registration requirements and what to bring to the polls with the help of voting partners like When We All Vote, League of Women Voters and VoteRiders.

Through the program, Lyft will offer discounted rides to polling stations across the country on Tuesday.

Lyft will also offer its nonprofit partners free or deeply discounted rides for communities that traditionally face barriers to getting to the polls.

Lyft has partnered with several organizations for free or discounted ride codes, including the National Council of Black Women, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, National Council on Aging, Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote , the Hispanic Federation and the National Association. for the advancement of people of color.

The ride-sharing company said these organizations will distribute the ride codes directly to the people they deem most in need.

“Every American citizen should be able to exercise their right to vote without worrying about the cost or difficulty of going to the polls,” Lyft CEO David Risher said in a press release. “Everyone, from a driver who has taken a thousand trips to a cyclist who has yet to take their first, deserves to have their voice heard at the polls. “Our Voting Access Program is a great way Lyft can be a force for good.”

Promo codes will be distributed by Lyft Voting Access program partners. They can be used for trips to polling stations or registered drop box locations for those in a vote-by-mail-only state.
