Fans find out why Monster Hunter Wilds feels so strange and weightless in the PS5 beta

Fortunately, fans seem to have gotten to the bottom of this potential problem. As detailed in a great little video by @AxellayerWilds appears to have abandoned the ‘hitstop’, an animation technique that tends to emphasize the impact of the attack.

Hitstop is used in all types of games, but has always been especially prevalent in Monster Hunter, adding a satisfying feeling of weight to your hardest hits. But for some reason, it has been greatly toned down in Wilds, which explains why veteran players are experiencing a discrepancy.

After having spent hundreds of hours in Monster hunter worldWe also notice the difference. There is no doubt that Wilds are missing something within its core gameplay, and this apparent lack of hitstop is probably a big part of it.

Here’s hoping Capcom tightens things up before the game’s February 2025 release date.
