Kaitlan Collins, stunned by laughter at Trump’s false media speeches

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins stunned when Trump fans laughed at former president donald trump joke about a would-be assassin who has to “shoot through” the media, and the Trump campaign’s bold explanation.

With just hours left until Election Day, the dominant story is the bomb Des Moines Register survey showing vice president Kamala Harris ahead of Trump in Iowa, a state he won twice in a landslide. The DMR survey, supervised by the interviewer Ana SelzerIt is considered Iowa’s “Gold Standard” poll.

But Trump’s antics at rallies are never far from the headlines, as was the case when he told an approving crowd at a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania, that “to catch me, someone would have to spread the fake news. And I don’t care that much.”

A Trump spokesperson issued a statement stating that “President Trump was claiming that the media was in danger as they were protecting him and therefore they themselves were in great danger, and they should have had a protective glass shield as well.” . There can be no other interpretation of what was said. He was actually looking out for her well-being, much more than his own!

Sunday night edition from CNN The Fountain with Kaitlan CollinsCollins opened her election special with a recap of the weekend’s events, including Trump’s comment and his campaign’s surprising attempt to clean it up:

These new numbers we’re seeing may be what’s driving what we’re hearing on the campaign trail, but Trump is basically raising doubts about the fairness of Tuesday’s election and making it sound like he’s laying the groundwork to challenge it if he loses.

DONALD TRUMP: We had the most secure border in the history of our country the day I left. I shouldn’t have left, honestly, because we did so well.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

COLLINS: Trump says he shouldn’t have left the White House. He did, of course, but barely. For people who might hear that and say, well, he’s not serious, remember, four years ago, Maggie Haberman reported that Trump was telling people, quote, I’m just not going away.

This is how Vice President Harris responded today to Trump’s comment.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) VP KAMALA HARRIS: I would particularly ask people who haven’t voted yet not to fall for their tactic.

In 2020 he lost. And the systems that exist for this 2024 election have integrity. They are good systems and the vote of the people will determine the result of this election.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

COLLINS: Harris is heard talking about the justice of what is expected to happen Tuesday night.

However, what Trump said today on the campaign trail about the election was far from the only dark comment we heard. He also called Democrats, quote, demonic and reflected on the violence against members of the press who cover him.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TRUMP: I have a piece of glass here and I don’t have any piece of glass there. And I have this piece of glass here. But all we have here is fake news, right?

And to catch me, someone would have to spread the fake news, and I don’t care much about that because… I don’t care.

(END OF VIDEO CLIP)

COLLINS: It’s remarkable to hear the background laughter over those comments.

I should point out that the Trump campaign later claimed that what he said there, what you just heard for yourself, had, quote, nothing to do with the media being harmed, but rather, I’m quoting your spokesperson now, actually taking care of your well-being.
