Get free transportation to your polling place on Tuesday

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cuyahoga and Lake County residents can get free transportation to their polling place on Election Day.

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) announced that all customers can ride free anywhere in Cuyahoga County with no fare or tickets from 3 a.m. Nov. 5 to 3 a.m. Nov. 6.

The free fees were paid for by a $105,000 grant from the Cleveland Foundation.

“We are excited about the generous grant awarded by the Cleveland Foundation to fund a ‘free’ election day on November 5 for the citizens of Greater Cleveland,” said India L. Birdsong Terry, general manager and CEO of GCRTA. “With this financial support, GCRTA can do our part to ensure residents’ access to safe, reliable transportation on Election Day; we hope this initiative will help drive historic voter turnout, one voter at a time.” .

In Lake County, residents can use local routes 1-9 or schedule a free door-to-door Dial-a-Ride fare to their polling place.

“Transportation should never prevent anyone from exercising their right to vote,” said Laketran CEO Ben Capelle. “We are committed to ensuring our residents have the access they need to participate in the November 5 elections.”

To schedule a Dial-a-Ride reservation, call Laketran Customer Service today at 440-354-6100.

Polling places in Ohio will be open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm on November 5.

You will not be able to vote in person at the Electoral Board on election day.
