SC dismisses petition against incorrect biological questions

The Supreme Court dismissed a petition today, Monday, November 4, against the National Undergraduate Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024.

The petitioner had alleged that two questions in the biology section were incorrect.

According ViveLawthe petitioner claimed to have evidence to substantiate her claim with the help of two different books of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

The petitioner’s petition was dismissed today as Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud ruled that the court, at this stage, cannot intervene in the proceedings now.

“…How can we intervene now at this stage? Admissions are complete…we are in November, we cannot stop looking for answers now,” the CJI said.

He further pointed out that since the admissions are full, re-conducting an exam would be considered unfair to the students who have already been admitted.

The CJI said, “What will happen to those who are admitted? The admissions are complete, we cannot consider this…if you are right then the entire process will have to be redone…”

The last round of NEET-UG 2024 counseling will end tomorrow, November 5.
