In a harrowing recollection of events, a Bengaluru man recently claimed that he was attacked by a group of hoodlums in the middle of a busy road. Sharing videos and pictures of the incident, the user named Deven Mehta shared that the goons not only attacked his car but also threatened him and a woman inside his car. “My car was attacked by goons on the busy streets of Bengaluru at 7 pm while the traffic police saw them breaking windows, throwing stones and threatening us at Kudlu, even though there was a woman in the car,” he wrote.

According to his position (now limited), a Bengaluru traffic police officer was posted on the road but did not intervene to stop the assault. Reacting to the post, the Bengaluru City Police social media site sought more details about the area along with its contact number for action. “We have informed the concerned police officers to take necessary action,” he added.

Meanwhile, social media users expressed frustration over the rising crime rate in the city, with some criticizing the city police for not taking appropriate action. One user wrote: “@BlrCityPolice congratulations. The city has gone to the dogs. Their inaction and silence on these matters is deafening. “I sincerely hope you do better than asking the victim for more details.”

Another commented: “It’s becoming very common now, before we rarely saw news like this.”

“It is very scary to see such events happening regularly on the streets of Bengaluru. These thugs know well that the police cannot harm them; otherwise they won’t dare touch/harass anyone. The BLR police are helpless here,” read one comment.

While Deven refrained from sharing his personal details, stating that he feels “safe”, he added that the videos were shared to make people more alert and careful on the streets. Earlier, another video went viral in which a Bengaluru family was attacked by a motorcyclist, who allegedly injured a child inside the car. In the video, a man, allegedly intoxicated, is seen yelling at the couple while trying to violently smash the car’s windshield.

The accused, identified as Naveen Reddy, was later arrested with multiple charges against him.
