Oregon is unanimously voted No. 1 in The Associated Press college football poll.

Oregon was the unanimous choice for the No. 1 spot in The Associated Press College Football Poll on Sunday, strengthening their bid for the top spot in the College Football Playoff Selection Committee’s first rankings of the season.

The Ducks are No. 1 in the AP Top 25 for the third consecutive week and for the first time unanimously, after their Road victory by 21 points against Michigan.

Georgia, which received a No. 1 vote last week, remained in the No. 2 spot after overcoming Carson Beck’s three interceptions and pulling away late to beat Florida.

Ohio State earned a one-spot promotion to No. 3 with its win at Penn Statethe Buckeyes’ eighth straight in the series. No. 4 Miami, who defeated dukeand No. 5 Texas, which was inactive, each moved up one spot. Penn State, which had been in the top five in the previous four polls, fell to No. 6.

The expansion of the CFP to 12 teams this season means that losses by top teams to other top teams are not a sure disqualification in the race for the national championship. The first CFP season rankings will be released on Tuesday and will be updated weekly until the bracket is announced on December 8.

Tennessee maintained its spot at No. 7 despite struggling deep into the fourth quarter against three-win Kentucky, and winning 28-18.

Indiana jumped five spots to No. 8, its highest ranking since being No. 7 in 2020, and its best in a non-pandemic season since the Hoosiers were No. 4 during their 1967 Rose Bowl season. Army, at No. 18, has its highest ranking since it was No. 10 midseason in 1960.

Boise State, at No. 12, has its highest ranking since ranking No. 8 in the final 2011 poll.

Indiana is ahead of Notre Dame for the first time since the final poll in 1979, when the Hoosiers were ranked 19th and the Irish were unranked. Schools are 200 miles apart in Indiana.

Vanderbilt wins 17-7 at Auburn allowed the Commodores to return to the polls, in 24th place, after a week’s absence.

Louisville, which had been ranked every week in September, returns to No. 25 after its upset at Clemson.

Illinois, which was ranked 24th last week, saw its seven-week streak in the Top 25 end with its 25-17 loss to Minnesota at home.

Missouri, which had been in the poll every week and had risen to No. 6, dropped out after an open date. The Tigers remained in 25th place last week despite a 34-0 loss to Alabama.
