Nagpur: a 35-year-old man, Kunal Bhandarkarhe raged with a knife, stab three members of his family and a neighbor who tried to intervene in the Durgesh Nandini Society in Hudkeshwar on Saturday. The four injured, who are now recovering in hospital, suffered serious stab wounds.
Sources said Kunal usually stays away from his family. Kunal works in a private company in Hingna and stays there alone. His mother, Maya, urged him to join the family for Laxmi Puja on Diwali.
Kunal joined the family for the Diwali ritual and left home after some time, saying he was heading to his company’s accommodation facility. He returned home shortly after, after which his father confronted him.
Kunal, enraged, started stabbing his father with a knife. His mother and his wife ran to rescue Kunal’s father from his attack, but ended up being severely assaulted by him.
Hearing the commotion, one of their neighbors Praveen Mulankar rushed to help the Bhandarkar family and was also not spared. Mulankar also suffered serious stab wounds.
When the noise increased and attracted the attention of neighbors, Kunal fled the scene. He was later arrested by the Hudkeshwar police and charged with attempt to murder.
