KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department said an investigation is underway after a man fell from the 11th Street parking lot on Saturday.

According to KPD, officers responded to the parking area on Cumberland Avenue around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, where a 21-year-old man was seriously injured after falling from an upper floor of the parking lot.

The victim was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, KPD said.

KPD said it is unknown at this time if the victim jumped intentionally or fell accidentally, but based on witness statements and preliminary investigation findings, police believe he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
