Joe Marler announces his retirement from international rugby in an emotional video

England prop Joe Marler announced his retirement from international rugby on Sunday 3 November.

The player announced his retirement through an emotional video posted on his social media account.

Joe said: “It’s time to move on. I’ve been very, very lucky to experience both the great highs and lows in an England shirt. I’ll appreciate them all because they all count.”

The 34-year-old added: “Playing for England always felt like I was living in a dream bubble. I kept waiting for it to burst and suddenly I would be an overweight 16-year-old again. But you know when it’s the time. moment”.

“I want to keep all these memories of my career intact, both good and bad. I don’t want to leave the house with my children crying. I’m ready to make the change,” added the player.

He also thanked everyone for showing support and said: “I can’t wait to sit back and be one of the guys now and enjoy the progress of this England team as a true England rugby fan. Thanks for everything. Bye bye!”

In another post, Joe posted touching photos of himself hugging his old friend and teammate Dan Cole along with a sweet caption.

He wrote: “The first teammate I told was Dan Cole. We shared a room at the Hotel England. I hugged him, he hugged me. The conversation went something like this:

Joe: I love you, buddy.

Cole: I love you too. What’s happening?

Joe: I’m done, buddy.

Cole: I know you are.”

Joe won 95 caps for England. He made his England debut in 2012 during the summer tour of South Africa. He won three Six Nations titles with England (2016, 2017, 2020).
