The Bauchi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, has inaugurated five standing committees to strengthen its leadership and drive the objectives of the Council.

The committees were constituted and inaugurated by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, at the conference hall of the NUJ Press Center on Saturday.

Newly established committees include Ethics and Discipline, Education and Training, Management and Development of the Press Center and Press Conference.

In his speech, Umar Sa’idu urged the committee members to operate within the specified terms of reference as outlined in the NUJ Constitution.

He stated that the committees were essential to promote the objectives of the Council and complement its agenda.

Sa’idu also addressed the delay in the formation of the committees, attributing it to a lawsuit filed by some members, which dragged out the process for almost a year before the Council won the case.

He called on the committees to cooperate fully to assist the Council in achieving its objectives of advancing the Union in alignment with the broader mission of the NUJ.

Speaking on behalf of the committees, Chairman of the Elders Advisory Committee, Inuwa Bello, expressed his appreciation for the Council’s commitment to fostering positive change.

He commended Comrade Umar Sa’idu for his proactive leadership since assuming office, assuring that the committees would work diligently to support the objectives of the Union and promote the welfare of its members.
