One of the biggest Test series wins: Michael Vaughan salutes New Zealand

Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan hailed New Zealand’s victory over India as the “biggest ever Test series victory”. He went on to analyze the Indian batsmen and said that like any other team, they also struggle to play against spin. New Zealand made history at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday 3 November. The Tom Latham-led team became the first visiting team in 12 years to win a Test series in India. India suffered a 25-run defeat on Day 3 of the third Test match against the Black Caps.

“Winning in India is incredible, but achieving a clean sweep is extraordinary… it has to be the biggest ever test series win… India now have a group of batsmen who struggle like most teams against Spin,” Vaughan tweeted on

In a historic feat, New Zealand completed a remarkable 3-0 victory over India, marking the first time they have won three Tests in a series, either home or away. This was also the first time they achieved three consecutive victories in away tests. For India, the series marked an unprecedented low point as they suffered their first whitewash in a home series of three or more Tests. With this victory, New Zealand joins an elite club as the fourth team to beat India in a series of three or more Tests, after England, Australia and the West Indies.

Chasing a modest 146 in the final Test, India’s batting line-up quickly crumbled, losing five wickets in just eight overs and scoring just 29 runs. Rohit Sharma’s impatience cost him his life when he fell to a reckless shot, while Shubman Gill was bowled with his arms on his shoulders. Virat Kohli was caught behind, Yashasvi Jaiswal caught lbw by Glenn Phillips and Sarfaraz Khan edged his sweep to deep square leg, leaving India in tatters.

Despite early setbacks, Rishabh Pant fought bravely, counter-attacking the New Zealand bowlers with a spirited fifty, his second of the Test, maintaining a strike rate above 100. His innings kept India’s hopes alive, but a Defensive Ravindra Jadeja was soon trapped. on the short leg, putting more pressure on the pants. Finally, Ajaz Patel dealt the decisive blow, dismissing Pant through a successful review, virtually sealing India’s fate.

Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin held out momentarily, but consecutive knocks from Glenn Phillip and Ajaz’s summary closed out the innings, securing New Zealand’s impressive series victory.
