Chelsea will head to Old Trafford on Sunday for a Premier League match against a Manchester United team playing under an interim manager.

Manchester United responded to Erik ten Hag’s sacking by scoring four first-half goals in a 5-2 rout of Leicester in the English League Cup round of 16 on Wednesday.

Two days after Ten Hag’s departure, United showed the cutting edge that their former manager so often lacked, with Brazilian midfielder Casemiro scoring two of the team’s first-half goals, one of them with a curling shot towards the upper corner from 30 meters.

Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes also scored in that initial flurry of goals, while Fernandes added a fifth in the 59th.

Former United star striker Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge of United after being assistant to Ten Hag. He will direct his second game today before the arrival of Rubén Amorim, who will take charge on November 11 after his commitments with Sporting Lisbon.

He has scored just eight goals in nine league games, one of the lowest totals in the PL.

Chelsea are in sixth place with 17 points and a win today could put them in the top four. The Blues have won three consecutive Premier League games.
