Driver dies in Madison Township, sheriff says

CINCINNATI (WXIX) -A driver is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Madison Township Friday night, according to Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones.

Sheriff Jones says deputies and the Madison Township Fire and Lifeguard crew were called to the 2400 block of Woodsdale Road around 11 p.m.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of a black Jeep was running off the road when the vehicle went over an embankment, causing it to roll over, Sheriff Jones said.

There were two occupants in the jeep, the driver and the passenger.

Sheriff Jones says the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is unclear whether drugs, alcohol or speed played a role in the crash.

Agents have not released any names at this time.

The accident is still under investigation.
