JACKSONVILLE— florida football QB DJ Lagway was carted off the field with an apparent leg injury Saturday during the second quarter of UF’s game against rival Georgia at EverBank Stadium.

Lagway, a five-star true freshman from Willis, Texas, hit his left leg on the turf on a running attempt with 5:01 left in the second quarter. His teammates surrounded him as they carried him and florida crocodiles Fans chanted “DJ Lagway” as the car headed into the tunnel.

The 6-foot-3, 239-pound Lagway threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to sophomore receiver Aidan Mizell to give UF a 7-3 lead before the injury and completed 2 of 6 passes for 47 yards with 18 rushing yards. Aidan Warner, a transfer from Yale, replaced Lagway and played the remainder of the second quarter.

“He has a hamstring injury,” Florida football coach Billy Napier said during the halftime interview on ABC. “A pretty significant one.”

After the game, Napier said Lagway will undergo an MRI on Sunday to further evaluate the damage. When asked if the injury was season-ending, Napier responded: “It’s soft tissue, so those things are subjective sometimes.”

The loss of Lagway was another blow to UF’s offense, already depleted at quarterback with Graham Mertz out for the season with a torn ACL he suffered on Oct. 13 at Tennessee.

Florida also lost cornerback Devin Moore to injury on Saturday when he injured his knee while returning an interception during the second quarter. Moore used crutches after the game.
