Hyderabad man throws dog off two-story building for biting son, held

HYDERABAD: A man was arrested for killing a dog by stabbing it and throwing it from a two-storey building in Jummerath Bazar on Saturday. The accused, identified as Satyanarayanaa day laborer, allegedly acted angry after his son was bitten by a stray dog.
According to police reports, the conflict began when Satyanarayana’s son was outside setting off firecrackers. The dog, agitated by the sound of the cookies, bit the boy on the hand. “Upon learning this, Satyanarayana, enraged, attacked the dog and caused its death,” said a police officer investigating the case.
In a video recorded by residents, Satyanarayana brandished a stick and threatened a passerby who questioned his actions. Despite others’ attempts to intervene, she defended her behavior, claiming it was in response to her son’s injury.
The boy was treated for his bite and scratch injuries and is reported to be in stable condition. Satyanarayana lives with his wife and two children in the building where the dog’s remains were discovered. After the incident, he disposed of the dog’s carcass in the Musi River, where it was later recovered by police for post-mortem examination.
The Shainayath Gunj police have registered a case against Satyanarayana under Section 325 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Injury by killing or maiming animals). Police officials indicated that additional charges related to the assault of bystanders could be filed following new complaints.
