A woman died in Montgomery County and police arrested her boyfriend in connection with her death.

A 911 caller alerted dispatch in Perkiomen Township early Saturday morning to the possibility that a woman may be dead in an apartment on Gravel Pike, authorities said.

Pennsylvania State Police responded to the scene and found 34-year-old Jessica Zipkin dead. Police officers said he suffered a fatal injury to the back of his head. PSP found a hammer nearby.

According to authorities, the Montgomery County coroner ruled his death a homicide.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Pennsylvania State Police Captain Gerard B. McShea announced that William Carey, 46, was arrested and charged with Zipkin’s murder.

Carey is charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder and possession of a criminal instrument. He was processed and is being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. Authorities said there is no bond for the first-degree murder charges.
