KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – A driver suffered life-threatening injuries after crashing his car into a ditch along I-435 near the Kansas Speedway.

He Kansas Highway Patrol indicates that around 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​I-435 and Riverview Ave., south of the Kansas Speedway, for reports of a single-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found Jason N. Ream, 43, of Bonner Springs, who had been driving his 2010 Hyundai passenger car south on the interstate when he slowed down for traffic ahead.

Investigators noted that when Ream slowed the vehicle, it went off the road to the right for an unknown reason and crashed into the west side ditch.

Emergency crews said Ream was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. No further information has been released.
