Protests organized in Molineux as part of a national campaign against rising costs for football fans

Led by the Football Supporters Association (FSA), fans of both clubs gathered outside the stadium ahead of Wolves’ Premier League clash against Crystal Palace, holding a banner highlighting the campaign name “Stop exploit loyalty.”

The campaign highlights the rising costs for fans in modern football and calls for change before more fans are hit by the price.

More than 15,000 Wolves fans have signed a petition against the rise in summer season ticket prices.

After consultation with club president Jeff Shi, Wolves ultimately agreed to freeze adult season tickets for the 2025/26 season and backtracked on price increases for under-14 season tickets this season.

In partnership with the FSA, the Wolves Supporters Trust 1877 supported the campaign before the start.

“This is an FSA campaign across the Premier League and is not a direct protest against the club,” said Trust vice-chairman and FSA national council member Ciaran Barker.

“But Premier League fans are fed up with rising ticket prices and shrinking concessions.

“Loyal fans have basically taken a backseat because they just want the stadium to be full.

“This is a campaign to put fans first and especially fans who have season tickets or attend games regularly.

“Of course, over time there will be price increases, that’s part of life, but we believe ticket prices for Wolves and other stadiums are unreasonable and unfair. It goes against the spirit of the game and should be affordable .

“It was never about having thousands of fans outside the ground and the FSA did not want to be seen as an attempt to disrupt the clubs or the Premier League.

“This campaign aimed to raise visibility against such increases in ticket prices and against fans not being front and centre.

“This is the start of something and it is a message to the clubs and the Premier League that fans across the board have had enough.

“Let’s start the engagement and make a difference now, before it becomes more than this. We don’t want it to be more than this and we don’t want to cause disruption on the ground.

“This is the first stage, coming from the FSA, saying that loyal fans should be prioritised.”

Wolves and Brighton fans also gathered ahead of last week’s game at the Amex, as fans from across the Premier League take part in the campaign.

Barker added: “We’ve had some Palace fans here and getting them involved is really important.

“Wolves fans in Brighton were involved outside their main pub which was fantastic and they welcomed us.

“We have welcomed Palace fans to get involved in this and it is about staying united.

“The important thing is that the fan groups of all 20 clubs are in this together. We need to unite and put an end to this.

“This is not a protest against Wolves, Fosun or Jeff Shi, this is a Premier League issue.

“If people want to get involved they can do so through the Trust or the FSA.”
