BREAKING MINUTE: Cultists kill three brothers in Awka

Suspected cultists on Friday afternoon killed a man identified as Nonso in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Nonso, the third child in a family of three children, is said to have lost two of his siblings earlier in similar incidents attributed to cultism.

A source said Nonso was killed in broad daylight on Friday afternoon near the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, NAUTH, popularly known as Amaku.

According to a close family source, Nonso’s murder is linked to the murder of his younger brother, Buchi, who was shot down three months ago around MacDon Eatery.

His older brother had also suffered a brutal end in a previous attack, the source said. This chain of incidents leaves his mother without a son.

Awka has recently been a hotspot for cult-related killings, with 16 recently killed in Nibo and seven more in the Ifite Awka area.

Despite repeated assurances from law enforcement agencies, bloodshed continues.

Anambra State Police Commissioner Nnaghe Obono Itam condemned the latest killing and promised a thorough investigation.

“We will spare no effort to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ezinano Awka Community led by Ozo Jeff Nweke on Friday awarded N10 million reward to the perpetrators of the Nibo massacre and warned cultists to stay away from Awka and its environs.
