Amorim said resolving Man Utd ‘show’ starts with sacking Ten Hag MP and ‘clearing the decks’

Troy Deeney has told Ruben Amorim that he must get rid of Ruud van Nistelrooy at Manchester United, so he only has “his people” around to start solving the ‘shit show’ he is tasked with.

Amorim has been officially announced as the next Man Utd manager. He will replace Erik ten Hag, who was sacked in 14th place in the Premier League with the Red Devils.

Amorim will begin trying to rectify the problems at United when he joins the club on November 11, when interim manager Van Nistelrooy hands him the reins.

But their first option, according to former Premier League striker Deeney, should be to get rid of the assistant manager.

he wrote in the sun: ‘Don’t leave Ruud on. You want to clear the decks once you’re there, with only your people around you. Only then can you find out what the problems are and how to solve them.’

Deeney also feels that Van Nistelrooy’s actions will not be tarnished even if United lose 7-0 to Chelsea in their next match, as it is not his fault, due to the transition period distracting the players.

But Van Nistelrooy recently stated that he will be available to help United for the next season and a half, given the length of his contract, meaning Amorim, although he will bring his own staff with him, may have no say in the manager’s future.

“As an assistant and now as an interim coach, and then I go back to my assistant contract that I have here for this season and next. I am very motivated to stay here and help the club move forward. “That is my absolute goal,” Van Nistelrooy said.

Beyond Van Nistelrooy’s possible dismissal, Deeney feels Amorim has “a great job.”

He described United’s position as a ‘shit show’ with no obvious place to start untangling it, and wished the manager ‘good luck’ in putting things right at the club.
