The Rajasthan government has increased the amount of assistance under the Rajiv Gandhi Krishak Sathi Sahayata scheme for farmers who meet with accidents while cultivating, resulting in broken limbs or deaths. The state agriculture department has increased the assistance amount for cases related to spinal cord injuries and head injuries leading to coma due to agricultural accidents from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh.

The Rajiv Gandhi Krishak Sathi Sahayata Yojana, started in 2009 and amended in 2013-14, provides assistance to farmers, farm workers and porters. The scheme offers support in the event of death or disability resulting from accidents during agricultural work.

The scheme covers accidents resulting in death or disability when using agricultural machinery, digging wells during irrigation work or installing a tube well, and electric shock during the operation of tube wells or damage to power lines. that cross the fields.

Coverage also includes death due to fumigation of chemical products on crops, fruits and vegetables in the field, or accidents with agricultural machinery in the main mandi patio, sub-mandi yards and purchasing centers designated by the state government.

Provision of up to Rs 2 lakh per death

Following the recent amendment, assistance of Rs 2 lakh is provided in case of death due to accidents or spinal injuries resulting in coma due to head injuries. In addition, the aid amounts are as follows:

  • Rs. 50,000 in case of damage to two limbs (both hands, legs or eyes),
  • Rs. 40,000 for complete hair decalcification,
  • Rs. 25,000 for partial descaling,
  • Rs. 25,000 for a broken limb (such as an arm or leg),
  • Rs. 20,000 for the amputation of four fingers.

How to apply

The application form must be submitted to the concerned Mandi Samiti office within six months of the accident. Applications received after this period will not be considered.

In case of limb fractures, a medical certificate from the local government or private hospital where the treatment was received, along with the treatment sheet, must be attached to the claim form.
