PM Anwar: No intervention in investigations into Khazanah and RM43.9 million PNB loss at Fashion Valet; MACC investigates RM1.8 billion fertilizer cartel case

SEBERANG PERAI, Nov 2 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has said he will not intervene in any investigation into Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).

He said that although he is the chairman of Khazanah, he will not stop the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) from investigating the government’s sovereign wealth fund.

“There is no exception when it comes to investigations by MACC, if there is a case, they will investigate, if there is a criminal case, the police will investigate, regardless of their position, whether it is a government-linked company or private. “He said here today in his speech at the official opening of the National Street Vendors and Small Traders Carnival 2024 (HPPK).

He said the case being investigated dates back to before he became prime minister.

“Even if there is a case now, regardless of whether I am the president, if there is any case, investigate, if there is evidence, prosecute, if it is proven, punish, only then can we govern fairly,” he said. saying.

Similarly, he said MACC should continue to investigate alleged involvement in a cartel by the National Farmers Organization (Nafas) in relation to padi fertilizer supply and distribution contracts.

“We let MACC investigate,” he said.

He said allegations of cartel existence should be investigated as they affect padi farmers and the price of fertilizers.

“This is for the sake of our food security, so we must understand why it is necessary to investigate the case,” he said.

Anwar was referring to MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki’s statement that they are investigating a cartel involved in the distribution and supply of padi fertilizer contracts linked to a ministry, worth a total of RM1.8 billion.

He also recently said that MACC is investigating the RM43.9 million loss suffered by Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) from their RM47 million investment in FashionValet.
