Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty’s Heisman campaign continued Friday with 180 total yards and two rushing touchdowns in a 56-24 home win over San Diego State.

Jeanty rushed for 149 yards on 31 carries and added 31 more yards on two receptions.

He got off to a slow start in the first half (15 carries, 37 yards) as San Diego State stacked the box against him. That decision left the Aztecs vulnerable on the back end, and Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen took advantage with 307 passing yards and four touchdowns (three to Latrell Caples).

Fans pointed to SDSU’s decision.

Jeanty hit the ground running in the second half, scoring both of his touchdowns and rushing for 112 yards. Both came from four yards away, and he didn’t have to break much of a sweat for either of them.

Through eight games, Jeanty rushed for 1,525 yards and 20 touchdowns on 190 carries (8.0 YPC). He also caught 14 passes for 81 yards and an additional score.

And so the hype for Jeanty Heisman continues after another fantastic game.

The first half may not have featured eye-popping numbers, but it’s hard enough for any running back to break through a brick wall. Still, he posted a 180-yard, two-touchdown game for the nation’s No. 15 team, which is squarely in the College Football Playoff mix.

And at this rate, Jeanty can book a flight to New York in December as a Heisman finalist.

This year’s race looks great on paper, with Colorado two-way superstar Travis Hunter, Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Oregon signal-caller Dillon Gabriel all in the mix as well, but Jeanty It’s not going anywhere.

Jeanty and the 7-1 Broncos (4-0 Mountain West) now have four regular-season games remaining, beginning Saturday at home against Nevada.
