CHILLICOTHE, Mo. (KCTV) – A Gladstone man has been charged with child sex crimes after being accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl while in Chillicothe.

Livingston County, Missouri, Circuit Court Records indicate that on Wednesday, October 30, Anthony J. Carter, 48, of Gladstone, was charged with multiple child sex offenses in connection with several incidents that occurred over more than a year.

Carter has been charged with two counts of statutory sodomy, statutory rape and endangering the welfare of a child.

He Missouri State Technical Assistance Team and Chillicothe Police Department He said that in July 2024, investigators received reports that Carter had raped a girl more than once and in several different locations. One of those places had been in Chillicothe.

The victim reported that when she was 13 years old she had been raped by Carter between April 2021 and December 2022. He bribed her with annual passes to Worlds of Fun, phones, clothing, drugs and alcohol.

Law enforcement officials said that in October 2024, they were able to match receipts in Carter’s name to at least one incident reported by the victim.

As of Friday, November 1, Carter remains behind bars in Clay County with no bond listed. No court appearances have yet been scheduled in the case. No further information has been released.
