Election 2024: Early voting in Texas ends November 1

The clock is ticking for early voting in Texas.

“I waited in a long line, but I’m glad I voted, that I got it out of the way,” Marlo Birkmann said.

Eight voting sites in Travis County expanded their hours during the final two days of early voting in the state for the 2024 election.

“You could tell some people were turning away because they didn’t want to stand in line and wait that long,” Ashlee Richard said.

A first-time voter came out with his entire family on Friday and then took a photo to mark the occasion.

“It was really exciting for all of us to finally be able to do it together,” said Roberto Tyler Ortiz.

Another voter said she wished she hadn’t delayed its completion.

“I’m not going to do it, I’ve put it off too long,” Richard said.

While other people at the polls came prepared for the wait.

“I set a timer shortly after I started and it was two hours to go,” Birkmann said. “But I had snacks and everything was fine.”

Be sure to check your registration in advance to ensure you don’t have to wait for hours.

“Make sure you are registered to vote in the county so you can do it much quicker and easier,” Richard said. “Especially the paper ballot deal takes a lot longer. So I really do it sooner.”

On the last day of early voting, Southpark Meadows, the Carver Branch Library and the Lakeway Activity Center remained open until 10 p.m.
