Israel should attack Iran again and definitively end its nuclear program

Last weekend, the Jewish State held a master class on how to uncover a hostile enemy’s deception and severely incapacitate it with strategic precision.

Over the course of just a few hours, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) reportedly managed to destroy much of the air defense system that Iran had spent the last two decades building, while also destroying the ayatollahs’ missile production capabilities. .

The attack, which occurred in response to the bombing of ballistic missiles fired by Iran against Israel on October 1, is nothing short of a momentous event, potentially changing the entire calculus of the conflict between Iran and Israel.

But no matter how successful the attack was, it would be a serious mistake for Israel to stop it now.

Rather than serving as an endgame, Israel’s bold raid should be a prelude to eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat once and for all.

End Iran’s nuclear threat forever

One of the most notable results of the Israeli bombing was that Iran’s military, government, and economic infrastructure was completely exposed. Or as former White House National Security Council member Richard Goldberg told the Washington Free Beacon website on October 27: “We must understand that Tehran is naked right now; The Ayatollah has no clothes.”

A former senior Mossad official, Oded Eilam, supported this view. In an interview with Erel Segal on Radio 103FM, Eilam said: “Iran is in its most difficult situation since August 1988, when the Iran-Iraq war ended, and is absolutely vulnerable.” He also noted that Iran does not have the equivalent of Israel’s Arrow missile defense system, nor has it built air raid shelters for its population.

The centerpiece of Iran’s air defenses was the S-300, a Russian-made surface-to-air missile (SAM) system capable of shooting down aircraft and drones. According The Wall Street JournalIran possessed four S-300 systems, all of which were destroyed by the IAF.

The attack highlighted both Israel’s military prowess and Iran’s defensive weakness.

Just consider the fact that this was anything but a surprise attack.

A leak of classified US intelligence information about preparations for the attack made this clear, and there were even media reports late last week that Israel may have reported the timing.

So even though the Iranians knew the attack was coming, they proved completely incapable of thwarting it.

That alone sent a clear and unambiguous message that Israel has the ability to attack Iran whenever and wherever it wants.

To achieve this feat, Israel had to send more than 100 planes to travel 1,600 kilometers. They needed to cross enemy territory in Syria and Iraq, refuel in the air, and carry out coordinated attacks on different locations in Iran, a country equivalent in size to Texas.

This is no small feat, especially considering that Israel did not lose a single plane or pilot in the process.

Earlier this year, in its Annual Threat Assessment to the US Intelligence Community, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in Washington said: “Naval, missile, unmanned aerial vehicle, air and missile defense capabilities of Iran will continue to threaten the commercial and military assets of the United States and its partners. in the Middle East.”

While most of that phrase is still true, the part about “air defense“Now we have to eliminate it.

In that sense, Israel has done a great favor to the entire Middle East, as well as the Western world.

As Goldberg noted, “Israel fundamentally altered the battlefield in ways that were positive for the United States and its close allies, not just for itself.”

Simply put, by stripping Iran of the ability to defend its own territory and vital infrastructure from airstrikes, the IAF has made it much easier for Israel or the United States to take military action against the ayatollahs’ nuclear program.

And that is precisely what must happen next.

Now that its military and nuclear facilities are vulnerable, Iran’s leaders may well decide to accelerate their efforts to build the bomb while they can.

This is a risk that neither Israel nor the United States can take.

To be sure, a full-blown attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities would still carry significant risks.

A recent paper published by the Council on Foreign Relations concluded that “Iran has varied capabilities, including deep and diverse arsenals of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones. “U.S. intelligence analysts say Iran has the largest inventory of ballistic missiles in the Middle East.”

This includes long-range missiles that can hit targets up to 2,000 kilometers away, including parts of Europe.

But with domestic opposition to Tehran’s tyrants growing and the air path to the targets now clear, this is a historic opportunity to shut down the mullahs’ nuclear program forever.

For the sake of Israel and future generations, we cannot let this pass us by.
