A year ago, Trinity was able to take down the Spartans, with Bella Dupes’ golden goal in overtime making the difference, avenging a loss to Wyomissing in the title game in 2022. But with new players on both sides, it’s need to look closer. Here’s how the matchup plays out, with the game scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Landis Field.

Wyo missing (16-1-1): Wyomissing returns to the District 3 title game for the fifth straight year, having won in 2020, 2021 and 2022 before being defeated by Trinity. The Spartans are led by two-time Berks Player of the Year Sophia Zeppos, a do-it-all star who facilitates and scores. The backcourt is also, unsurprisingly, elite, and Dulce Lytle has stepped up in the postseason as a strong second option. The program is seeking its fifth district title.

Trinity (15-4): Despite holding the title of reigning district champions, the ‘Rocks had some questions this year. The team had to replace a handful of crucial pieces: defender Grace Notarfrancesco, forwards Frances Maury and Caroline Cunningham and goalkeeper Julianna Prokop. While some familiar faces have led the way, such as sophomores Mia Scherr and Dupes and senior Abby Stair, some new contributors, such as goalie Ashley Berkheimer and freshmen Avery Walker and Savannah Ratke, have helped the group return to championship level.

x factor: Trinity has firepower to score. The question will be whether the ‘Rocks can limit Wyomissing’s attack chances like they did a year ago. Trinity had a good test against Boiling Springs in the semifinals, when it held sophomore scorers Mackenzie Seiber and the Bubblers scoreless, but Wyomissing has barely stumbled all year, even tying 4A runner-up Northern, so It will be a tough challenge for Terry Mull. cluster.
