Early voting totals show more than 200,000 people voted in Davidson County

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – Early voting in Tennessee is officially over and totals from the Davidson County Election Commission show more than 209,000 voted earlier this year.

The most popular polling location during the early voting period was the Nashville Public Library in Hermitage.

Many voters tell us that Halloween parties and trick-or-treating wouldn’t stop them from voting. Yesterday alone, nearly 21,000 people went to the polls across the county, surpassing any other day of early voting. The second date with the highest participation was October 22, when just over 16,000 people voted. Some voters stood in line for hours to make their voices heard.

“If my leg breaks in the middle of the line, I won’t leave until I cast my vote, it’s that important,” said voter Carli Cannon.

“It’s an important election. There’s a lot at stake here. That’s why we want to make sure your opinion really counts,” said Nashville resident Kelly Taylor.

The Secretary of State’s website notes that fewer people voted earlier this year than in 2020, when nearly 221,000 people went to the polls, but 2024 now has a higher turnout than 2016.

You still have one last chance to vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5.

Road trip to see some of our neighbors’ best Halloween decorations

We are just a few days away from Halloween. Americans are expected to spend about $12 billion on candy, costumes and decorations this year. In recent years, it seems like a lot more people are putting in the effort to decorate their homes. Forrest Sanders had the opportunity to visit several communities in the center of the state to see some of those Halloween decorations.
