Cosm Entertainment Venue Coming to Bedrock’s Development in Cadillac Square

Bedrock has tapped Cosm, an immersive technology, media and entertainment venue operator, to bring its Shared Reality live sports and entertainment concept to Cadillac Square.

The location is expected to open in 2026 as part of Bedrock’s long-awaited development project at Cadillac Square in downtown Detroit, formerly known as Monroe Blocks.

“Cosm is the future of sports and entertainment, putting people front row at the world’s biggest events,” Bedrock founder Dan Gilbert said in a statement. “This was a transformative technology and experience that we knew we had to bring to Detroit, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience it firsthand.”

Cosm, a Los Angeles-based company, says it combines the virtual and physical realms, combining visuals with the excitement of a live crowd.

“When fans come to Cosm, it’s the most incredible experience they can have outside of attending a live game,” Cosm president and CEO Jeb Terry told The Detroit News. “We call the concept shared reality. It combines all the great energy of the experience economy with the fantastic immersive technology sector and everything happening in that space.”

Cosm Detroit will seat approximately 1,500 people, with more than 700 enjoying the views inside a 26.6 meter 12K+ LED dome. The venue will have an adjacent space, the hall, which will be equipped with a high-resolution LED wall. The space will offer dining options that combine elements of gastropub, sports betting and lounge, Terry said. The space will also include a raised outdoor terrace.

“We will never replace what it’s like to be in the stadium itself,” Terry said. “That’s such a special atmosphere. But this is an opportunity for fans who can’t make it to the game, who can’t get to the sidelines or the field or the track. It’s for those fans and it gives them an incredible experience.” experience in the live window format that they will love.

The Development at Cadillac Square project is located in downtown Detroit, between Monroe and Randolph streets, next to Campus Martius Park.

The entertainment venue announcement comes after the Detroit Downtown Development Authority granted Bedrock an extension until May 1, 2025 to begin construction on the development at Cadillac Square. Bedrock had sought the extension to adjust plans for the development’s theater following Detroit Music Hall’s announcement in late 2023 that it would build a 1,900-seat concert hall.

The Detroit headquarters will be the fourth for Cosm, which opened its first two locations this summer in Hollywood Park in California and The Colony, Texas. A third location has been announced for Atlanta. Cosm has hired Rossetti to develop the site.

“We’ve always had Detroit on the map as a city we wanted to go to and as we were strategizing the implementation, we thought this was a great place to bring Cosm to the Midwest as a really anchor city,” Terry said. .

Programming at Cosm Detroit will include live sports through official partnerships with UFC, NBA, NBC Sports, TNT Sports, FOX Sports and NFL.

Customers will be able to purchase tickets in advance or in person, Terry said. Ticket prices average about $33 across all offerings, which include VIP seating and general admission, he said.
