One dead and two injured after a triple shooting in the Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police are investigating a deadly triple shooting in the Frankford section of the city.

It happened around 9:45 pm Thursday at Arrott and Leiper streets.

Police confirmed that a man in his 30s died from his injuries.

A 37-year-old man was also shot in the stomach and is in critical condition in hospital. A 40-year-old woman was also shot in the leg. She is in stable condition at the hospital.

Police say the three were together next to an apartment complex when someone fired at least 11 shots.

“Therefore, it appears that the victim who died was more than likely an intended target, as he was hit multiple times,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police Department. “The other two victims were each shot only once, so it is unclear whether they were hit by stray gunfire or were unwanted targets.”

Police do not know if the shooter or shooters were in a car or were running by.

There is no description or motive at this time, however police said there are surveillance cameras in the area.

All of this comes as the homicide rate has fallen in the city this year compared to last year, according to recent data.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
