The New York Jets appeared to be headed for another loss after a slow first half saw them trail the Houston Texans heading into the fourth quarter on Thursday.

In desperate need of a touchdown on third and long, Aaron Rodgers threw a ball to Garrett Wilson in the end zone that seemed uncatchable, even for a player of Wilson’s caliber. Somehow, the receiver came down with the ball with a spectacular one-handed grab that gave New York a 14-10 lead.

It was more than just another highlight moment for Wilson. According to Rodgers, it was a play that changed the game, maybe even the season, for the Jets.

“All in all, I didn’t do much,” Rodgers said. “I just threw one up there and he made an unbelievable catch… That was a great play. The first one was a great play too… But it was a game-changing play.”

“Yeah, I didn’t really do much, I just threw a ball and he made an amazing catch… that was a great play, a game-changing play.”

Wilson accounted for the Jets’ first two touchdowns of the game. The first came in the third quarter when he caught a 21-yard touchdown pass, which was also a one-handed grab.

Wilson finished with nine receptions for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns. New teammate Davante Adams sealed the game with a touchdown late in the quarter and finished with seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown.

The Jets came into Thursday’s matchup having lost five straight, their playoff hopes dimming with each loss. They still have a mountain to climb to return to the playoffs, but the momentum is now on their side, thanks in large part to Wilson’s incredible catch.
