Candidates continue to make final push in Wisconsin before Election Day

APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – With the election just five days away, get ready for even more visits from Wisconsin candidates.

Battleground Wisconsin remains in the political spotlight, as the latest Marquette poll says Harris leads Trump by 50 to 49 percent among likely voters.

After dueling visits to the Badger State on Wednesday, both candidates will return to Wisconsin on Friday night, with Trump speaking in Milwaukee and Harris in Appleton before also heading to Milwaukee.

In years past, Wisconsin has been known as a battleground state in many presidential elections, and this election is going to be no different.

Harris’ visit to the Appleton area is the first among candidates from this region…she also recently campaigned in Green Bay and Ripon.

Emily Tseffos, chairwoman of the Outagamie County Democratic Party, says it’s an exciting time for Harris to recognize the importance of Outagamie County, as a potential turning point in the election.

“I think when it comes to addressing the needs that families and workers are experiencing in our state, there is a contrast and we continue to see that on both platforms,” Tseffos said.

On the other side of the aisle, Trump has made multiple trips to northeastern Wisconsin over the past year, including two to the Green Bay area.

Pam Van Handel, chairwoman of the Outagamie County Republican Party, attended Wednesday’s rally at the Resch Center and hopes Trump will return to office to run the country like a business and help the economy grow.

“It would be amazing. I think we need him back in the economic office, on our border. We really need it in the office. It would mean that obviously the whole state would love it, but the whole country needs it,” Van Handel said.

Action 2 News learned from Van Handel that Vice President Harris will travel to Little Chute on Friday night to speak at the high school. She says Trump supporters will also be outside the high school.
