PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – A fire broke out on a dairy farm in Shalersville Township in Portage County Thursday afternoon.

Crews were called to the farm located in the 3500 block of Frost Road around 420 p.m.

The smoke from the fire was so thick that it was picked up by radar.

There were no injuries, but unfortunately a steer and approximately 15 goats died in the fire, according to a relative who was at the scene.

A neighbor was able to save a dog.

The family member told 19 News the barn is a total loss.
