State Trooper Found Guilty of Illegally Collecting Workers’ Compensation Benefits

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WFSB) – A state trooper has been found guilty of illegally collecting workers’ compensation benefits.

45-year-old Kevin Moore of Moosup suffered a back injury in July 2019 while working as a state trooper.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, he then began receiving workers’ compensation or Temporary Total Disability benefits.

An investigation was launched in November 2019 to determine whether Moore was exceeding the physical limitations set by his health care provider.

Surveillance was carried out for four months.

That surveillance showed that Moore had been exceeding those limitations and was also operating his screen printing business, Four82 Designs.

“Moore continued to do business while he was on leave. “He failed to disclose his activities or report his earnings to Gallagher Bassett while receiving workers’ compensation benefits for his work as a state trooper,” the State Attorney General’s Office said.

It was determined that Moore received approximately $47,000.00 to which he was not entitled.

He agreed to pay full restitution prior to his sentencing on March 4, 2025.
