WILSON, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina woman is $1 million richer after winning a major lottery prize.

The North Carolina Education Lottery says Janet Johnson purchased her lucky Extreme Cash ticket at the 7-Eleven on Airport Boulevard West in Wilson.

When the Wilson County woman arrived at lottery headquarters Tuesday, Johnson could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000.

Johnson chose the lump sum and took home $429,007 after required state and federal tax withholding.
