Oklahoma Cold Case Files: Gregory Treace

CREEK COUNTY, Okla. — A Creek County man went fishing with his brother and was never heard from again.

Investigators say Gregory Treace disappeared in July 2022.

For the past two years, his wife, Billie Treace, has desperately searched for answers to her husband’s disappearance.

“I last saw Gregory on July 23, 2022. He left late that night to go fishing with his brother and his brother’s girlfriend, and was expected to return the next day, when he did not return, I called in the morning next for “His mother’s house is here, where I hoped she would be with his brother,” Treace said.

But he was nowhere to be found, and that’s when she said she turned to her brother for help.

“His brother claimed that he had left the day before with his brother’s girlfriend. “He said they got into the biggest fight they’d ever gotten into and he went with his girlfriend to a hotel,” Treace said.

Treace was not only worried about Greg’s safety, but she was also extremely concerned about his health.

Greg was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkins lymphoma and had not received medical treatment, further alarming his family.

The family said Greg was wearing blue jeans and white Nike sneakers at the time of his disappearance.

The family later found those blue jean shorts on a bench behind a tree on their mother’s property.

“I had severe neuropathy in my feet due to cancer treatment and I was very, very sensitive in my feet and this is not a place where it is easy to walk barefoot, there is gravel and rocks of all kinds. It was immediately suspected that he didn’t have his shoes,” Treace said.

2 News sat down with Creek County investigators to learn more about Greg’s movements before his disappearance.

Investigator James Ables has been working on the case and said they encountered some obstacles.

“He didn’t have a good cell phone that we could track, so a lot of searches were done on the property where he supposedly resided, and at this point, we came up basically empty-handed,” Ables said.

Much of the investigation focused on his mother’s house, where his family expected him to return after his fishing trip.
