Young Thug has reached a plea deal in the nearly year-long YSL (Young Slime Life) case.

UPDATE (6:40 p.m.: After being sentenced to 40 years, with five to serve, his sentence was commuted to time served along with 15 years of probation. Thugger is going home.

The Atlanta rapper’s sentencing marks the inevitable conclusion of the longest trial in Georgia history.

He New York Times information That on Thursday (Oct. 31), Young Thug, also known as Jeffery Lamar Williams, pleaded guilty to six charges including drug and firearm possession, conspiracy to violate the RICO act, and leading a criminal street gang.

Thugger accepted a non-negotiated plea deal, meaning it will be up to Superior Court Judge Paige Whitaker to decide his sentence. Apparently, this option was presented after Thug’s lawyers and the prosecution were unable to reach an agreement on a guilty plea. The option of pleading guilty and walking out of court a free man on the same day was reportedly presented, but Thug did not accept the conditions that included 15 years of probation.

It looks like Thug’s hand was essentially forced as of last week. three of his co-defendants reached plea deals.

Now his fate is in the judge’s hands, with prosecutors reportedly recommending that the 33-year-old receive 45 years in prison, with 25 of them in prison and another 20 years of probation.

Prosecutors characterized the rapper as the ringleader of a YSL gang that loomed over the streets of Atlanta, dabbling in robbery and drug trafficking, among other crimes. And then, his music career flourished as well.

While Young Thug pleaded guilty, his co-defendants remain: Deamonte Kendrick, aka Yak Gotti, and Shannon Stillwell, aka SB, who are accused of a 2015 murder, among other charges.

YSL was originally indicted on RICO charges and its alleged members were arrested in 2022and jury selection took almost a year. The trial, which has been streamed online, has featured dramatic twists of failed deals, witnesses refusing to testify, rap lyrics read in court and more drama straight out of a TV crime drama.

However, the players are very real. Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, who at one point was threatened with contempt charges, argues that his client has been denied justice. See the social media response to the latest YSL trial antics in the gallery.
