Michigan Football will host 5-star QB Bryce Underwood’s teammate against Oregon

Not only is Michigan preparing for a big matchup against No. 1 Oregon this weekend, but the Wolverines are set to host a massive recruiting weekend with the 2025 recruiting cycle nearing its end.

Michigan has generated plenty of buzz along the way in its pursuit of the five-star quarterback from Belleville (Mich.). Bryce Underwoodbut the nation’s No. 1 player isn’t the only Belleville prospect the Wolverines are looking to trade as signing day approaches.

With the Ducks in Ann Arbor this weekend, Michigan will host four-star safety. Elias Dotsona teammate of Underwood who is currently committed to Pittsburgh.

This will be Dotson’s third visit to Michigan this season, but his first time as an official visitor. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder was also in the Big House last weekend for the Wolverines’ rivalry win over Michigan State.

Dotson, a rising prospect, is considered Michigan State’s No. 296 overall prospect, No. 29 safety and No. 3 player in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports compound classifications. He committed to Pittsburgh on May 18, but has been heavily pursued by both Michigan and Michigan State this fall.

Here’s how 247Sports national recruiting analyst Allen Trieu evaluates Dotson:

“He’s played safety, cornerback, receiver, returner and some wildcat quarterback in high school. He’s above average size and plays physical. He’ll put his face in the action to support the run and get his hands on receivers if playing man to man. The receiver’s experience helps his ball skills and he can play deep in the secondary or get into the box as well as match up one on one with slots and tight ends. The projection is most likely a safety. , but it’s not out of the question. “A school could try him as a great cornerback. His track experience speaks to his athleticism and he has enough straight-line speed to recover and execute plays.”

Removing Dotson from his commitment to Pitt would not only add a talented defensive back prospect to Michigan’s recruiting class, but it would also give the Wolverines another recruiter in their pursuit of Underwood in his high school teammate.
