‘Steve Irwin of South Africa’ dies after being stung by a green mamba at the age of 44

Graham ‘Dingo’ Dinkleman, a South African Wildlife conservationist and popular YouTuber, died after a venomous snake bite. A green bit him type of poisonous snake. His wife confirmed that he was known to have a severe allergy to snake venom.

The 44-year-old conservationist, known for his adventurous approach to wildlife and his interactions with dangerous reptiles, was often compared to the late Steve Irwin, Australia’s iconic wildlife expert.

Irwin, also known as ‘The Crocodile Hunter’, was fatally injured by a manta ray barb while diving in Australia in 2006 at the age of 44.

Dinkleman succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, October 26, precisely one month after suffering the bite. He leaves behind three children, including his son Rex, who frequently appeared in his videos.

‘Dingo fought incredibly hard’ but failed to make it

Dinkleman’s wife Kirsty shared that he was rushed to the hospital and placed in a medically induced coma to try to control his reaction. She announced the tragic news through a statement on the Africa Reptiles and Venom Facebook page, saying: “I want to start by thanking you all for your incredible support and the love we have felt over the past few weeks; Today marks one month since the incident and we have experienced so much comfort and love thanks to your messages and prayers from around the world.”

“Dingo fought incredibly hard during this very difficult period. We know you were fighting to be here with us and we are very grateful for that. Sadly, despite his strength and resilience, my beloved husband passed away peacefully today, surrounded by his family,” she continued.

“His presence has brought so much warmth, love, passion and laughter into our lives, as well as those who knew, loved and supported him.”

Dinkleman, who lived in Pietermaritzburg in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, had built a large online following, with more than 645,000 followers on Instagram and numerous fans around the world. Their social media platforms were filled with images and videos of their intense and often dangerous encounters with deadly creatures. These included close interactions with giant crocodiles and poisonous snakes. He was even seen feeding a live python to a crocodile.
